TWO POEMS
by Joanne Draper
BANQUET

This day the Lord has made.
Let us gather at the table
and share the meal
He has prepared for us.

Let us sing glad songs
and rejoice - we are chosen by Him.
We are His people,
people of light.

 In this gathering place
there is no darkness.
All are welcome - with love
He invites us to share
in this banquet of remembrance.

He is truly present here.
Let us eat and drink
and be nourished by Him.

Let us celebrate - all sisters
and brothers in His name
His family,
His children,
Come together

into His holy presence.
THE PROMISED ONE

In darkness we wait
for the coming of the Sun,
the promised One,
who will save us
and make us free.

In darkness we wait
for that first faint glimmering,
a Star raised on high
to lead us to His holy presence.

In darkness we wait
for the Dawn to break upon us,
to shine on us
and guide us into His peace.

(Luke 1:78-79)
